1. Who we are

Insta Inc ("Insta," "we," "us") operates the Insta family of on-demand service apps and the website at instainc.org (together, the "Services"). Through the Services, customers can request everyday services — such as cleaning, moving, painting, mowing, junk removal and odd jobs — that are performed by independent service professionals ("pros").

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to customers, pros (including people who apply to become pros), and visitors to our Services.

Our mailing address is Insta Inc, 8885 Hester Beasley Rd, Nashville, TN 37221, USA. You can reach us at management@instainc.org.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information — your name, email address and password when you create an account. On our website you can also sign in with Google; in that case Google shares your name and email address with us.
  • Booking information — service address, the services and add-ons you choose, scheduling, access and parking notes, and the contact name, email and phone number you provide.
  • Payment information — your payment card or other payment method. Payment details are collected and processed directly by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers. We keep your Stripe customer identifier and the amount and status of each payment.
  • Messages and reviews — messages you exchange with your assigned pro through the in-app chat, ratings and reviews you leave, and support requests you send us. Chat messages are tied to the booking and can be read by Insta staff when needed to resolve a dispute or enforce our Terms.
  • Referral information — referral codes you share or enter and the credits they generate.
  • Pro application information — if you apply to work through Insta: your name, phone number, city, the services you offer, and the verification, deposit, background-check and payout information described below.

Pro verification, screening and payouts

  • Identity verification (Stripe Identity) — pro applicants verify their identity with Stripe, which collects an image of a government-issued ID and a selfie and compares them. This may involve processing of facial features. Stripe handles those images under its own privacy policy; we receive the verification result (for example, verified or not verified).
  • Background screening (Checkr) — pro applicants complete a background check with Checkr, which collects information such as your name, date of birth, Social Security number, address history and criminal-record information, and sends us the result and status. Checkr provides its own disclosures and authorization forms and handles this data under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and its privacy policy.
  • Deposit and payouts (Stripe) — a refundable deposit is paid through Stripe, and pros receive payouts through a Stripe Connect account, for which Stripe collects bank and tax details directly.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data — device type, operating system, app version, IP address and similar identifiers, processed by our hosting and database providers (Google Firebase) as part of running the Services.
  • Push-notification tokens — if a pro turns on job alerts in their browser, we store a notification token for that device so we can send alerts.
  • Cookies and local storage — on our website, to keep you signed in and remember preferences (for example, a referral code from a link you opened). We do not use third-party advertising networks.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide, operate and improve the Services, including creating your account, pricing and processing bookings, and showing booking status.
  • Connect customers with pros and share the details a pro needs to do the job.
  • Process payments, refunds, deposits and payouts.
  • Verify pros' identity and screen them before approval, and review reports about users.
  • Send booking confirmations, receipts, status updates, job alerts to pros, reminders to finish an unfinished checkout, and account and security notices.
  • Operate the referral program, including issuing, redeeming and auditing credits.
  • Detect, prevent and investigate fraud, abuse and safety issues.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only as described below:

  • With your pro (or your customer) — a customer's name, service address, contact and job details are shared with the pro assigned to the booking, and the pro's name is shown to the customer. Chat between you stays inside the app; phone numbers are not exchanged through it.
  • With service providers who help us operate — Google (Firebase: authentication, database, cloud functions, hosting and push messaging), Stripe (payments, payouts and identity verification), Checkr (background screening for pro applicants) and Resend (email delivery). They may only use your information to provide their services to us.
  • For safety and legal reasons — when we believe disclosure is needed to comply with law or legal process, protect the rights, property or safety of Insta, our users or the public, or investigate fraud or misuse.
  • In a business transfer — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
  • With your consent — for any other purpose we tell you about at the time.

5. Location information

Our iOS app does not request or collect your device's location. The service address for a booking is information you type in. If a future feature uses device location, the app will ask for your permission first and we will update this Policy.

6. Your choices and rights

  • Access and update — you can view and edit your account information in the app and on the website.
  • Delete — you can delete your account and associated personal information in the iOS app (Profile → Delete Account) or by emailing management@instainc.org. We retain payment and booking records where the law or our accounting obligations require it, with personal details removed where possible.
  • Notifications and email — you can manage push notifications in your device or browser settings and unsubscribe from non-essential email using the link in the message. We may still send transactional messages about your bookings and account.
  • Permissions — you can control camera, notification and other permissions in your device settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete or port your information and to opt out of certain processing. To exercise a right, email management@instainc.org. We may need to verify your identity first.

7. California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended) gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, to request access, deletion or correction, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

To make a request, email management@instainc.org with the subject "California Privacy Request." You may use an authorized agent, subject to verification.

8. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, keep booking and payment records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and enforce our agreements. Chat messages and reviews are kept with the booking they belong to. Stripe and Checkr keep the identity and background-check information they collect under their own retention policies. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit and access controls, and we rely on Stripe to handle card data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children

The Services are intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Services or by other means and update the effective date above. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the revised Policy.
